"Got Road Runner? I got this idea from one of my customers.
Hereabouts , Time Warner is offering new customers a special 6 month rate of $29. 95 rate since she used to be a "valued customer". They announced yes and she saved $120 for a five-minute telephone call. With no central source, who was to claim which database was the right one? This not only led to a large replication of effort, but to a large consistency problem. The method was to take all the applications and shoe-horn them into one control interface. Information integration came in many flavours, most importantly the data-warehousing push of the 80s and 90s. The idea was to do an one off research of all the info employed by a business, design a centralized database and re-implement the applications around it. Sadly few corporations managed to get past the design phase. The present solution The solution of the day is business process integration. Unlike information integration where the concept was to centralize the info and reconstruct the applications on top ; business process integration intends to integrate on top of the applications. If they're disinclined, you may drop hints about trying another service. At this writing I have 7700 customers to my e-zine. In this live eventuality it never injures to be ready to leave if they will not deal.
